![]() ![]() Programmers and their endless and mindless updates, along with their meddling into our freedom of choice, is an ABOMINATION!!! As long as you run good security extensions, Windows anti-virus and run a good utility tool to clean everything at the end of each day, you’ll be golden. Don’t care about some stupid ”security risk”, that’s all lies just to keep people updating. ![]() I’m on Firefox 61 and will stay that way. I LOVE my extensions, I will NOT lose them, so I have disabled updates and will keep it this way. Now you must go and find new ones all over, most of the time you’ll never find ones which will do the same job as well, ”IF” you can find them AT ALL!!! Instead of making new versions to work with them, they just throw a new version of Firefox at us WITHOUT WARNING which disables all extensions and now all the ones you love and depend on don’t work. ![]() If I set my browser to never look for updates and I forget, it’s my fault, my responsibility and NOT the responsibility of the programmers trying to play the role of ”big daddy”.įirefox programmers also keep screwing around with our extensions. Even if it doesn’t and you install Firefox in Ubuntu on your own, even in that case you can update Firefox with the regular system update. This is just another example of programmers trying to take over our freedom of ”choice”, which we USED to have in America. You’ll notice that apart from the system and kernel updates, Ubuntu also provides updates on some installed software.įirefox is no different. If you expand it a bit, you can see what kinds of updates are there. Ubuntu often prompts for the availability of new updates. If you install applications from the software center or use the apt or apt-get command for installing any software, it is Ubuntu’s responsibility to provide you software updates. If you are new to Ubuntu then let me tell you something about the updates. Probably this is the reason why people switching to Linux from Windows wonder about updating Firefox on Ubuntu. No notifications for the availability of a Firefox update here. Or, you go to settings menu -> Help -> About Firefox to see the current version and if there is an update available.īut that’s not the case in Linux. On Windows, Firefox prompts for updating the browser. Then I understood the context behind the question. ![]()
